Weekly Photo Challenge: Future Tense

3 Apr

“In today’s challenge we want you to grab an image from your world that holds the promise or portent of the future. We spend so much of our lives thinking back, or looking ahead, and even though a photo captures only one moment in time, with a bit of thought it can freeze the process of moving forward, or the promise of things to come.” – WordPress

Prom Dress

This is my “baby” sister…. not so little anymore. Here she is trying on Prom dresses…. honestly, isn’t she still in kindergarten?! But here we are, a junior in high school getting ready for her first “Ball.” Yes, you heard me right, the theme of the dance is Fairy Tales (and as one who LOVES all things Fairy Tales and magic, I love it!)

We went to this little hole in the wall dress shop, where they have a policy to insure no one else has an identical dress to you at Prom by writing down the style of dress and the school you attend. (Side note: I guess this policy could backfire if you are invited to someone else’s prom….)

Back to finding the dress, just upon walking in the door and asking who was dress shopping, the consultant had already sized up my sister by looking at her, complemented her gorgeous blue eyes and knew exactly what style dress was best for her body type.

This was dress number 1 and all others paled by comparison. I didn’t even bother taking photos of them! Every time my sister came out wearing a dress OTHER than this one, all of the consultants, the owner and other shoppers told her she’d already found the perfect dress. And she knew that, she just wanted to make sure!

It might be hard to tell in the photo, but the top is feathers and the beads on the waistline are arranged in feather patterns. She’s going to look stunning at Prom!!
