Weekly Photo Challenge: Lunchtime

19 Mar

Time to show us your lunchtime. This might seem like a pretty narrow task, but if you think of “lunchtime” as a theme, there are lots of places you can take it… – WordPress

Thank goodness for leftovers! Chicken Parmesan is one of my absolutefavorite meals!

And yes, I am reading “50 Shades of Grey” during lunch….sometimes you’ve just got to escape the world for a little while. Usually I’m catching up on reading the blogs I follow, but recently our wifi has been down. So….no judging me, and besides, one of my coworkers told me to read it anyways!

Daily Prompt: Writing Room

3 Feb

A genie has granted your wish to build your perfect space for reading and writing. What’s it like?

This is actually something I have spent tons of time thinking about, and I always come back to the same conclusion, I want Belle’s library from Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. Let me show you why…..

I mean, just look at those pictures! What’s not to love about this room?! Bright colors (the golds and blues are perfect together, creating a calming, peaceful atmosphere), ceiling-high windows for plenty of natural light to read or write by, window seats perfect for long afternoon reads, a fireplace for chilly days and nights, and millions upon millions of books to get lost in!

The only thing I would add to this already ideal room would be dozens of throw pillows or bean bag chairs, perfect for flopping down into and not moving from for countless hours.

It’s the perfect room for me, a wanna-be Princess Belle. She is the one I relate to the most, and thus, she is also my favorite Disney Character (aside from Beast himself, you just can’t help but love him!) To me, Belle is everything I want to be: compassionate, educated, loyal, loving, open-minded, forgiving, passionate, friendly, adventurer, different, special. She may not have the most friends, but those she does have know they can count on her. She does not cave to the pressures society has placed on her, mainly, she refuses to become a Bimbette,  a simple-minded fool, er girl obsessed with Gaston. I know she is a cartoon, but she is a role model. She loves to read and dreams of a more exciting life for herself. Someday, I hope to discover that, too.

Building Forts

27 May

I love Sundays! They may be my favorite day of the week!

It was a lazy, humid day here in the Kingdom. I finished reading book four in The Kingdom Keepers Series, The Kingdom Keepers – Power Play. It was an AMAZING book and I had a hard time putting it down at night so I could sleep! So… because I HAD TO KNOW what was happening next in the story, I began book five, The Kingdom Keepers – Shell Game. I am going to feel empty on the inside when I finish this book! Does anyone else get so lost in a story that they cry and laugh with the characters, and feel lonely when the book ends?! I’ve always had that problem…. or connection!

Now, before you think all I did was read today, I did accomplish 3 loads of laundry! I managed to hang 2 loads outside on the clothes lines. THEY SMELL FANTASTIC NOW, like sunshine and starry nights! It’s the little things of summer that I enjoy! There is nothing as wonderful as falling asleep under sheets and blankets that have soaked in the clean summer air! I am going to sleep so well tonight!

Sunday Afternoons

6 May

I love Sunday afternoons. Especially now that the semester is over (graduation in August!) and summer is nearly here! As I write this, I can feel the stress of the week melting away, recharging my battery for the challenges I’m sure to face in the coming days. But for now, as I sit here typing this, all is calm and peaceful. Outside my window I hear the wonderful sounds of lawns being mowed and kids laughing. On the breeze, you can still smell the grilled chicken, hot dogs and hamburgers from lunch. There isn’t a cloud in the sky. In my little part of the world, things are good. It’s the perfect day to sit outside and read a book, so that is what I’m going to do! I’m currently reading Kingdom Keepers III: Disney In Shadow by Ridley Pearson and suffering from Disney withdraw, so these are wonderful! What are you reading?! Let me know in the comments!
